Who am I?

Who am I?

My name is Deborah, but you can call me Debbie! I've been an English teacher since 2012, accent coach and a speech-language pathology student.

I hold a DELTA diploma from the University of Cambridge and a specialization in course design.

I've worked at the best English schools in Brazil; I've also lived in Turkey and Tunisia, teaching English to immigrants and refugees. Passionate about teaching pronunciation and everything that involves the human voice.

All my experience led me to create my own method, the M.M.A. – Muscle Memory Activation, where I teach pronunciation through muscular training.

The M.M.A. Method works —
and I'm living proof of that.

Before I ever taught the method, I was already using it myself — without even realizing it.

I started learning English on my own at the age of 14 - an age when the speech muscles are already less flexible, which makes it harder to acquire new sounds. I was obsessed with pronunciation, so I'd do shadowing, repetition exercises, and started using my muscles in new ways — even though I had no idea what I was actually doing at the time. There was no YouTube back then — imagine that!

This gave me not only great pronunciation but also a huge sense of curiosity. How could a girl who never had the money for a regular English course, and taught herself everything, end up sounding like that? That's when my journey began.

Today, I'm a:

  • licensed linguist
  • Cambridge-certified English teacher & speaking examiner
  • Cambridge Delta holder

  • proud CEO of my own online school

And I have:

  • taught English in Brazil and several other countries, such as Turkey and Tunisia

But beyond all this, I'm someone who believes that speaking English should feel exciting — and that confidence is just as important as grammar.
